Before the Cross ©Brian Hooper, January 2009

Before the cross we come in wonder, before the cross we stand in shame;
Before the cross we are discovered, through the power of Jesus' name.
We stand imperfect and forgiven, our dirty sandals are untied;
We feel the love of Jesus risen, before the cross where Jesus died.

Before the cross we walked in darkness, no light to guide us on our way;
Before the cross, without direction, we stumbled on from day to day.
Into our lives you came to save us, to show the path that we must take;
We bring you now our thanks and praises, before the cross, for Jesus' sake.

Before the cross no condemnation, we stand in God's amazing grace;
Before the cross of our salvation, until we see him face to face.
And though we falter in our journey, the shepherd stays right by our side;
We know the love of Jesus risen, before the cross where Jesus died.
